Firm principal, Ned Whittington, has been the lead counsel in more than 100 cases which went to verdict, from matters of local interest to larger cases of national and state-wide significance. In 1995 the United States Supreme Court appointed him as lead counsel for the mayor of Lebanon, NH, in much-cited case of Field v. Mans. In addition to that case, he has presented oral argument in the First, Second, Seventh and Eleventh U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, and in the Supreme Courts of New Hampshire, Vermont and Illinois.
Mr. Whittington became specialized in architectural copyright by prevailing in one of the first cases to be reported under the architectural amendments to the Copyright Act. He also has handled many accountant and attorney malpractice cases.
Except for existing clients, Mr. Whittington limits his litigation practice, and only accepts new cases which are meritorious and significant.
Mr. Whittington is a trusted counsellor, and among other matters has served as outside general counsel for four decades to one of the country’s largest religious publishers, and for lengthy periods to clients in the nursing home and building industries.
