Profile: Mark E. Melendy,
Of Counsel
Mark
E. Melendy, Davidson College (B.A. 1977); University of New Hampshire (M.B.A.
1983); Fordham University School of Law (J.D. 1985). Born and raised in the
Upper Valley, Mr. Melendy previously worked in the insurance industry,
attaining the CPCU designation, and was formerly elected to the New Hampshire
House of Representatives. After law school, he was a law clerk to Franklin S.
Billings, Jr., Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont.
Thereafter, he was associated with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton &
Garrison, in New York and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, in
Boston, before becoming a principal with Whittington, Melendy & Girdwood,
in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Mr. Melendy's areas of practice include business succession planning, corporate
law, tax, estate planning, trusts, probate, and general practice. He is a
frequent lecturer on business law, business succession planning and estate
planning topics and served on the Vermont Bar Association Committee involved
in the drafting of the recently enacted Vermont Limited Liability Company
Act.

Melendy currently maintains his own firm, The Law Offices of Mark E. Melendy,
in Woodstock, Vermont and Hanover, New Hampshire.
